iCarsoft JP V4.0 is an advanced diagnostic tester designed for 16 Asian brands. The manufacturer positions it as a touchscreen successor to the JP V3.0, offering full diagnostics of all systems, bi-directional control, ECU coding for selected Hyundai / KIA / Mazda / Subaru, 49 service functions, CAN-FD, and AutoVIN.
The device runs on the Android system, has a 5-inch touchscreen, a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core processor, 64 GB of memory, and a 5000 mAh battery providing about 6 hours of continuous operation.
Unlike the older JP V3.0, updates are done wirelessly via Wi-Fi – without the need to use a computer for standard software updates.
JP V4.0 is factory-designed for diagnostics of 16 Asian car brands:
The manufacturer groups some brands together, including Toyota / Lexus / Scion, Nissan / GT-R / Infiniti, Honda / Acura, and Hyundai / KIA / Daewoo.
The range of functions depends on the specific model, year, target market, and ECU version. Before purchasing for a specific car, we recommend checking compatibility by VIN number.
JP V4.0 provides access not only to the four basic systems – engine, transmission, ABS, and SRS – but also to more advanced electronic modules available in the vehicle.
JP V4.0 can send commands directly to supported modules and actuators. The manufacturer declares 22+ active tests, and their range is expanded with each update.
Sample tests include:
The availability of specific tests depends on the brand, model, year, and controller version.
JP V4.0 offers coding, adaptation, and personalization functions for parts of Hyundai, KIA, Mazda, and Subaru vehicles.
The manufacturer clearly states that ECU coding is available only for parts of vehicles from these brands. Support for additional models and brands is developed through updates.
For selected Hyundai and KIA models from around 2010, the manufacturer declares the Variant Coding function and data migration after replacing the controller.
Supported applications may include, among others, AEB, BCW / BSD, ECS, EPB, and HCU modules. Depending on the controller, it is possible to save settings related to the type of drive, transmission, safety system configurations, and vehicle parameters.
The manufacturer also describes the Backup & Input function, allowing data transfer from the original controller to a compatible replacement module in supported applications.
For selected Mazda models from around 2003–2020, JP V4.0 allows changing supported programmable parameters.
The manufacturer lists, among others:
For some Subaru models from around 2014, the manufacturer declares the possibility of personalizing selected vehicle functions.
JP V4.0 offers a total of 49 service functions:
Typical applications include, among others, oil reset, DPF, BMS, TPMS, EPB, SAS, injector coding, ABS bleeding, and other procedures available for specific vehicles.
Additional functions may be available in the Miscellaneous section. Not every one of the 49 procedures is available in every car.
JP V4.0 supports the modern CAN-FD protocol, which is appearing in an increasing number of new Asian cars.
CAN-FD provides higher bandwidth than the classic CAN bus and allows the tester to work with newer electronic architectures.
The current manufacturer’s page declares CAN-FD but does not declare DoIP or J2534 Pass-Thru for JP V4.0.
The AutoVIN function allows automatic reading of the VIN number and recognition of the vehicle in compatible models.
If AutoVIN does not recognize the car, the vehicle can be selected manually. The manufacturer notes that the lack of automatic identification does not automatically mean a lack of diagnostic support.
JP V4.0 supports all 10 standard OBDII diagnostic modes for compatible vehicles from 1996 onwards.
Supported standards include OBDII, EOBD, JOBD, KOBD, CAN, and CAN-FD in compatible vehicles.
The manufacturer provides lifetime free software updates for JP V4.0.
Updates are delivered wirelessly via Wi-Fi. The manufacturer declares no mandatory annual subscriptions, renewal fees, paid unlocks, or paywalls.
Updates may add new models, communication protocols, active tests, and extensions of coding and service functions.
JP V4.0 supports 15 languages:
JP V4.0 can be charged using a standard USB-C charger. The manufacturer recommends a power supply of 5 V / 2 A.
The manufacturer informs that a separate wall charger is not included to limit additional electronic waste. The device can also be charged from a computer's USB port.
JP V4.0 is the current flagship model of the JP series. All three generations cover the same 16 Asian brands but differ in functionality and hardware.
iCarsoft JP V4.0 is the most advanced tester in the JP series. It combines full diagnostics of 16 Asian brands with 22+ active tests, 49 service functions, ECU coding for selected Hyundai / KIA / Mazda / Subaru, CAN-FD, and AutoVIN.
The 5-inch touchscreen with Android, 64 GB memory, 5000 mAh battery, and lifetime Wi-Fi updates provide convenient and fast operation in the workshop.
JP V4.0 is particularly a good choice for workshops servicing Japanese and Korean cars that need functions beyond standard fault reading and clearing.
JP V4.0 is designed for 16 Asian brands listed by the manufacturer. The range of diagnostics, active tests, ECU coding, and service functions depends on the specific model, year, target market, and controller version.
Not every one of the 49 service functions or 22+ active tests is available in every car.
ECU coding is currently declared only for parts of Hyundai, KIA, Mazda, and Subaru vehicles and should not be equated with full online programming of all controllers.
The current manufacturer’s page declares CAN-FD but does not declare DoIP or J2534 Pass-Thru for JP V4.0.
