Compatibility with BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce

The manufacturer declares support for BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles from 1996 to 2025. In vehicles equipped with a standard 16-pin OBDII connector, the tester connects directly to the car.

The standard 16-pin OBDII connector primarily covers vehicles from around 2001. In older BMWs manufactured before 2001 with a round 20-pin diagnostic connector, a optional BMW 20-pin adapter is required, sold separately.

AutoVIN – quick vehicle identification

If AutoVIN does not recognize a specific vehicle, the vehicle can be selected manually. The lack of automatic VIN reading does not automatically indicate incompatibility or a malfunction of the tester – the function depends on the protocol of the specific controller.

Support for the modern CAN FD protocol

iCarsoft BMM V2.0 supports the CAN FD – Controller Area Network Flexible Data-rate protocol, used in newer generations of BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles.

Simple step-by-step operation

1. Connect the tester to the standard 16-pin OBDII socket in the vehicle.
2. Turn on the ignition according to the device instructions.
3. Use AutoVIN or select the vehicle manually.
4. Start scanning available controllers.

Not all 9 service functions must be available in every vehicle. Before purchasing for a specific car, we recommend checking compatibility based on the model, year, engine version, and VIN number.

The standard 16-pin OBDII connector is primarily used in vehicles from around 2001. Selected older BMWs require an optional 20-pin adapter, which is not included in the standard package.

BMM V2.0 does not support active tests / bi-directional control. This function is available in BMM V3.0 and higher models.

The tester does not replace the manufacturer's factory software for full online programming, firmware updates for all controllers, or functions requiring authorized access to the vehicle manufacturer's servers.
